Cogent Exit Strategies managing partners first began working together in 1996. Since that time, they have helped business owners in a variety of industries realize their professional and personal goals through effective exit strategy planning and execution.

Amy Tomchak- Managing Partner
With particular focus on operational excellence, Amy’s management career includes working with CEOs and Board of Directors in strategic development, investor relations, restructuring, P&L management, budget process, consolidation of operations, and establishing company wide priorities and performance metrics. Amy earned her MA from Southern Oregon University.

Favorite business moment: One client's need for an expedited exit strategy inspired us to complete a total acquisition of the business in 94 days from the time we first met him on the golf course. Urgent needs with staffing and critical business issues had to be dealt with swiftly. We transitioned all key staff and strategic relationships, and took over management of the business. Within 180 days after closing we had greatly improved the relationships with all key stakeholders, and the business is performing at all time record highs.

Don Gerould- Managing Partner
Don’s skills encompass a multitude of areas that include strategic planning, sales, operations, customer service, product development, marketing, recruiting and training. He specializes in creating substantial revenue increases and improved financial performance, achieving measurable results within challenging and competitive environments. Don has worked with businesses ranging from small start-ups to billion dollar public corporations, including running his own successful business for more than nine years.

Favorite business moment: An exit strategy for one client that included a strategic planning and restructuring engagement that enabled the CEO to take a three month sabbatical and work only a few days each week thereafter. He returned to significant increases in all key aspects of the organization and has received several inquiries regarding sale of the business. The business has seen a dramatic value increase due to the fact that it is now easy to demonstrate its viability when the CEO decides to stay in the Caribbean next time.
